Craig R. Hawkins, CPA, CTC
Tampa Tax Coach
Craig Hawkins is the moving force behind Tampa Tax Coach. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in accounting in 1981 and earned his Certified Public Accountant license in 1984. That puts him on par with the other 645,000 CPA’s in the nation who are primarily tax preparers. What sets Craig apart is that he is one of less than 200 CPA’s that have been designated a Certified Tax Coach.
That honor makes him uniquely qualified to help his handful of select clients. He has chosen a narrow area of tax service; that of helping small businesses and the self-employed professional map out a long-range plan that will help them minimize their tax obligations not just for today, but long into the future. There is a huge difference between being ‘aggressive’ and being ‘proactive’ in tax preparation. Aggressive implies pushing the limits into that vast gray area that exists in the 72,536 pages of the U.S. tax code. That is how many ‘aggressive’ CPA’s get their clients into trouble. As a Certified Tax Coach, Craig knows what can and cannot be done. This extensive knowledge has resulted in one (Yes, I said one!) client audit in 27 years! And many of Craig’s clients have said that his planned approach to tax preparation has resulted in much lower tax debt than they had with their former ‘aggressive’ accountants, not to mention fewer sleepless nights.
There is much more to business than just business, and there are few things more personal than your finances. Craig has sized his practice so that each client can be treated as an individual, not a number or a billing address. He knows their business, he knows their family, he knows their goals and he has prepared a plan for each of them that has helped them grow their business, spend more time with their families and move more quickly towards their long-range goals through excellent tax planning. You need to meet Craig, and then read his award-winning book “Secrets of a Tax Free Life”.
